Soccer: Three teams join league

THERE are three new clubs in the Ridgeons League next season. Champions Soham Town have moved up to the Southern League Midland Division, with Wivenhoe Town taking their place in the premier division after being relegated from Ryman One North.
Former members Brantham Athletic return, to division one, after lifting the Suffolk and Ipswich League title, and Maldon Reserves join the Southern section of Ridgeons Reserve League.

The draw has been made for the Knockout Cup, on a regional basis. In the preliminary round Long Melford visit Haverhill Rovers and Cornard United travel to Saffron Walden Town.

Ties are to be played in the week beginning September 29.

The first round sees Halstead Town at home to Ely City, Hadleigh United visiting Stanway, and Brantham Athletic at Wivenhoe Town.

Melford or Haverhill Rovers will be at home to Saffron Walden or Cornard.

Ties will be played during the week beginning October 20.

The draw has also been made for the division one KO Cup.

Hadleigh are at home to Brantham, Halstead home to FC Clacton or Ipswich Wanderers, Melford host Saffron Walden or Godmanchester Rovers, and Cornard visit Newmarket Town.

Ties will be played in the week beginning Monday, November 3.
