THERE was an exciting Halstead League match at Sible Hedingham where all the matches went to the pink ball with five frames going down to the black, the hosts beating Sudbury Snooker Club D 4-2.
Joe Kane Jnr won both of his matches, but was somewhat fortunate in his match with Mick Drury. Trying a cross double on the final black, attempting to pot it in the middle pocket, he got a double kiss and saw the black fly into the top pocket.

ce Pryke then played Bill Hemmett Snr, and again on the final black, in attempting to play safe, produced what is known as the Cocked Hat shot, seeing the black go into the middle pocket going in off of the bottom and side cushions.
Joe Kane Snr beat Frank Ervine and Joe Kane Jnr beat Bill Hemmett Snr to put the hosts 4-0 up. Joe Kane Snr then played Drury.
Looking every inch a winner Joe Kane Jnr went in off the blue leaving the Sudbury player an easy blue and pink.
Joe Kane Jnr missed the final black, handing victory to Drury.
In the last match of the evening the vastly improving Ervine beat Pryke in another black ball frame.
In the match between Snooker Club C and Earls Colne, the hosts got off to another poor start, losing the first four frames.
Steve Underwood, who was brought in as a late replacement, lost narrowly to Luke Heard in his first game and finally managed to chalk up a point for the Snooker Club with a win over Arthur Moles, scoring breaks of 26 and 22.
Luke Heard made it 5-1 to Earls Colne with a win over Michael Howard, with breaks of 20 and 31.
The match between Sudbury Snooker Club A and Haverhill was postponed.
