Hadleigh's good run of form ended with a narrow Two Counties division one defeat at Easton on Saturday.
Batting first on a glorious day, Hadleigh were in trouble immediately when opener Richard Pettitt was out without scoring, and the bad start continued as the visitors soon found themselves 45-4.

Alistair Douglas and captain Carl Holder (33) led t
he recovery, putting on 80 together before Douglas fell for a well-constructed 60. Good contributions down the order from Kalpesh Ellis and Tim Rix helped Hadleigh reach 193.

Easton made a better start to their innings, but while dangermen Kimmerling, Chorlton and Huggins all made starts, none could go on and make a big score, and Josh Hanley, Jock Speedman and Kalpesh Ellis reduced Easton to 147-8.

But although Hadleigh had dug themselves out of a hole against Elmstead the previous weekend, this time they were on the receiving end, with Halliday (55 not out) and Croney leading the East Suffolk side to victory with an unbroken stand of 48 with five balls to spare.

The Seconds reached the half-way stage of the season with their third division six win on the spin, at home to Bury Thirds.

In contrast to the previous week's demolition of Maldon, the Bury openers took a liking to Hadleigh's opening bowlers Michael Howe and James Gilderson, and it was only with the introduction of Steven "Blossom" Tampion that the runs began to be stemmed.

Bury collapsed from 51 without loss to 73-5, and had no answer to Tampion's subtle mix of swing and yorkers. Tampion claimed his first five-wicket haul for Hadleigh since returning to the club this season.

Some excellent fielding, which included another run-out from Ian Thoroughgood, saw Bury bowled out for 132.

Thanks to Robbie Smyth this target was reached by Hadleigh inside 27 overs.

Fighting for a recall to the first team, Smyth showed his superiority with a superb 69 not out, giving Carl Holder some difficult decisions to make before this weekend's league and cup double-header at Woodbridge.

The win and maximum points saw the team climb to second place in division six.
