Cricket: Acton's run goes on
Acton continued their run of recent good form in division one of the Hunts County Bats League on Sunday with a 46-run home victory over Ampton.
Batting first Acton could manage only 132 all out as a combination of accurate bowling and poor shot selection from several batsmen meant that Nigel Chapman with 44 was the only man to pass 20, Goodwin picking up four for 26 for the visitors.
However, the bowling and fielding performance was far better than the ordinary batting display as Ampton were shot out for just 86.
Nathan Walsh was the main wicket taker with 4-12 from nine overs.
He was ably supported by Border and Cole who took two wickets apiece and Steve Martin who removed the dangerous Terblanche with the first ball of his only over.
While Terblanche was at the crease scoring quickly Ampton were still in with a shout, but with his dismissal the rest of the Ampton innings collapsed, and with their last player unable to bat, Acton wrapped up a comfortable victory.
