Belle Vue dilemma

AS a user of the Belle Vue House adult education centre, I was sorry that I could not attend the protest last week in support of Belle Vue to remain as it is.
Whilst thinking about the centre, it occurred to me that if the centre was demolished to make way for “further development”, where are the facilities now provided at the centre to be rehoused or are Babergh District Council or the developers McCarthy
and Stone going to provide another property to replace Belle Vue and the Citizens’ Advice Bureau facilities?

I looked at the area of the old swimming pool. Is there going to be sufficient room to build another surgery to replace Hardwicke House and Meadow Lane? Is the car park going to be part of the green space?

There will be the problems of access by car, due to the road system and the position of the site, and its accessibility to walking patients. It’s bad enough trying to get to Hardwicke House and certainly not any easier at the proposed site.

I have a solution. Leave Belle Vue alone. We have enough new properties built in and around Cornard and Sudbury. The developers and the council are being greedy as usual. I suggest the site next to the bus station be given over to the Hardwicke surgery. There will be plenty of room for a new surgery, parking space and even an improved and enlarged bus station. Easy to get to for drivers and walkers.

Also, why are the health authorities selling St Leonard’s and Walnuttree sites to pay for a new health centre? Why don’t they knock one of the hospitals down and rebuild on the same site, thus removing the need for People’s Park which is clearly never going to be used.

Maybe I am being too simplistic and logical. What do other readers think?
