A big thank-you to Lesley Fisher for nominating me for the Free Press At Your Service Award, and to all my customers who voted for me.
Special thanks to the ones who have bought me flowers, doughnuts, sausage rolls, etc, and to Jean Waddy who gave me a card. Thank you, too, to the Free Press and to Bates,Wells and Braithwaite who sponsored the competition.

I would just like to point out that it is not easy sometimes behind that counter and even though 90% of my customers are lovely, the odd 10% are real pains, like:-
The ones who insist on talking on their mobiles while I am trying to serve them;
The ones who tut and have no patience while in the queue, especially when the card machine takes a long time. I can only go as fast as it will let me;
The ones who use the excuse of having a bus to catch to try to get served first;
And the schoolkids who are rude and cheeky and swear at you.
