Foxearth children get used to veg-ing out...
You're never too young to start healthy eating – and a pre-school is digging deep to ensure children get their greens.
Youngsters at Pebbles Pre-school, Foxearth, have been snacking on lettuces, radishes and veggies grown on their very own allotment.
Manager Kerry Chapman said: "All the children have been working on the plot and now they are reaping the rewards.
"We thought it was very important to show children where food comes from, how it grows and what it tastes like – it's been great fun."
The children, aged two to four, who meet at the village hall, have even built their own scarecrow.
Elaine Bell, whose four-year-old son Charlie attends the school, said: "I think it's great that children living in a rural area should take part in this, even at this age.
"It teaches them about the environment they are growing up in and gets them all outdoors."
